Have you ever been told you looked tired?
Or that you butt looks a little big in those pants?
Wow, that is an interesting haircut; did you go someplace new?
I am always suspect of comments like these and am certain I have made my share. First impressions are formed very quickly -- sometimes within a matter of seconds. Humans are known to make rapid judgements based on visual and behavioral cues. We biologically can't help ourselves.
This means that it might actually take someone literally seconds to notice that you look really tired or that your pants look a little tight in the rear.
Assuming we are all humans, lets give ourselves permission to come to these judgements and then lets carefully swallow our words and say: You look great today.
I have often been a tired person and my butt continues to take different shapes and I don't think I will ever tire of hearing this white lie, you look great today.
